Our Support System

Supporting Positive Wellbeing

For us, the health and well-being of the child or young person we’re supporting is of the utmost importance, with their physical, emotional, and mental health needs being a top priority for us.

There is a lot that contributes to the positive care of a young person’s well-being that we as a team seek to prioritise:

  • A safe place to live with safe relationships.
  • Registration at primary health services.
  • Support to attend appointments.
  • Medication as needed.
  • Exercise and a well-balanced diet.

CPI training

James is our CPI trainer; his role is to deliver mandatory training to teach the skills to manage and de-escalate disruptive situations and reduce conflicts.  CPI training strategies and techniques focus on the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of staff and children and young people with evidence-based de-escalation and crisis prevention approaches.

This training helps staff to Recognise & Respond to Crisis Behaviour, when individuals are faced with a behavioural crisis that places staff or others at risk of injury, they learn how to focus on the least-restrictive physical intervention .

Access to Healthcare Professionals

In addition to this, the child or young person will have access to the necessary support from healthcare professionals, including: a GP, dentist, optician, LAC Nurse and other medical professionals as required, based on their individual circumstances.

Meeting Individual Health Needs

However, we recognise that health and needs differ between each child or young person we support, with some having more complex health needs than others which is why our team are trained and equipped to support the specific needs of the individuals in our care.

Specialist Therapeutic Support

Internally, we have the support of a therapy team to assist with care planning and environmental management of the home. We also have a PBS lead who will support with care planning, review, evaluation, and behaviour support.

We also access support from our children’s psychologist who can complete a full needs assessment, and can provide support to the adults working in the home to ensure the best strategies are understood and met to help the child or young person.
